#ManeCrushMonday w/ Brittany
This week's #ManeCrushMonday features fellow blogger Brittany Victoria Rosette-Jones!
Here's a little snippet into Brittany's life:
"Born in Hartford, Connecticut, raised in Hephzibah, Georgia (a small town outside of Augusta, Georgia). I currently attend Savannah State University where I major in Online Journalism with a minor in Africana Studies. There are a gazillion things that I want to do and I have not quite pinpointed what it is exactly that I want to do after graduation. In my downtime I love to blog, shop (both online and in-store, lol), and learn new things." - Brittany
Mane Style: How long have you been natural?
Brittany: I had been natural for a little over a year before I caved and gave into the creamy crack again. It was pretty spur of the moment and I can honestly say that I wish I had not done it. So now I am restarting my curly journey for the thousandth time it feels like, argh. But it will be documented on my site www.bloverose.wordpress.com
MS: What are your go-to hairstyles?
B: Most definitely twist-outs. I am the furthest thing from a hair guru when it comes down to styling so I mostly wear twist-outs. I also do a lot of protective styling.
MS: Do you have any holy-grail hair products?
B: I really love the Eden BodyWorks All Natural Coconut Shea Curl Defining Crème. It moisturizes your hair while also helping to define the curl pattern + it is affordable. I have recently been using Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Regime (Moisture and Shine Sulfate-Free Shampoo, Moisture and Shine Hydrating Conditioner, and Moisture and Shine Leave-in Conditioner). I have been using these products for about two months now and I love that they do not dry my hair out. They are pretty reasonably priced too.
MS: Describe your personal style?
B: Wow, this a hard one. My personal style mostly depends on my mood or where I am going. These days I definitely dress more for comfort than trendy. I like to be stylish, yet comfy. I would also say simple, I notice I can do more things when I dress with more neutral-colored pieces.
MS: What clothing store(s) could we find you in, mostly?
B: Forever 21, thrift stores, H&M, Old Navy, and Charlotte Russe. Being a college student I tend to be a budget-friendly shopper.
MS: If you couldn’t live without one thing in your closet what would it be?
B: Hmm, definitely my H&M jeans. Never had more perfect pairs of jeans. They fit lovely.
MS: Does your outfit for the day reflect how you wear your hair? Or vice versa?
B: Having natural hair definitely opened me up to more options when it came to the way I was dressing. I gained a whole lot of confidence rocking my short fro so I experimented with more clothing. My outfit determines my hair-do.
MS: What inspired you to start your blog, bloverose?
B: I initially started it as an outlet to deal with the loss of my mother in 2014. I realized that I struggled a lot during that time period and I thought it would be a great idea to vent about my trials and how I dealt with them in hopes that it would help someone else. It has grown into an all-around blog (style and advice etc.) and I could not be happier about it.
MS: If you could share one piece of advice with readers, whether it be about style or hair, what would it be?
B: “Confidence is key”, whether that be style or hair. Rock it, no matter how short the fro – or how different the outfit seems.
Mane Style: How can we connect with you? (Social media pages, blogs, etc.)
Brittany: Find me on everything:
