Here's a snippet into Whitney's life:

"Hey Loves! I’m a singer/songwriter and self-proclaimed passionpreneur based in Los Angeles, CA. I aim to spread love + light to the community through music, style + beauty. Over the years I’ve learned that it’s ok to take chances..we don’t always have to play it safe!" - Whitney Rene

Mane Style: How long have you been natural?

W: Wow, this is crazy but I’ve been natural for 11 years!

MS: What are your go-to hairstyles?

W: Definitely a twist-out—I can typically get about a week of wear out of it. I will also sport a wash-n-go depending on how I’m feeling. But lately, I’ve been rocking two chucky pigtail braids when I want to keep my hair stretched, detangled and to give it a break.

MS: Do you have any holy-grail hair products?

W: Deva Curl No Poo, Naturals by Hask Repairing Mask, Affirm 5-n-1 Reconstructor, Kinky Curly Knot Today, Eco Styler Gel, Olive Oil Twist-n-Hold Pudding + Coconut Oil

MS: Describe your personal style?

W: My style is casual, yet feminine with a little edge. I’m really into monochrome looks right now and cute sneaker.

MS: What clothing store(s) could we find you in, mostly?

W: H&M, Zara, Forever 21

MS: If you couldn’t live without one thing in your closet what would it be?

W: If I had to pick one “type” of thing..it would have to be an oversized button-down. I’m currently obsessed because they’re so versatile. Can be dressed up or down, layered or not. The options are endless.

MS: Does your outfit for the day reflect how you wear your hair? Or vice versa?

W: Yes, but my hair the boss. I think most naturals can understand that it can be pretty hard to plan your hair around your outfit when it’s an “off” day. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is a cute hat goes a long way on when you’re waiting for those chunky twists to dry!

MS: Just for fun, who are your top three #WCW or just women who inspire you?

W: My sister--@_NikkiLane_, @ShamelessMaya, @Mattieologie

MS: If you could share one of piece of advice with readers, whether it be about style or hair, what would it be?

W: Don’t be scared to try something new or different. Don’t let fears that something may not work (whether it’s a new gel, a new lippie or a new job) deter you from at least giving it a try. Dream big and appreciate the in between time. That’s where we grow…
