Top 4 Things To-do Before Moving Into Your New Place
Hey loves! I hope 2022 has been treating you well! It’s been a wild year for me with many growing pains but we’re pushing through girl. We are pushing through.
Speaking of growing pains, let’s talk about something that’s fun, exciting, and a little terrifying as you travel through adulthood: getting your own place. Rather it’s your first apartment or you took the leap to purchase a home…this is a big step!
In 2020, I took that journey and it was super exciting but I want to share some things you should do before moving in! Here’s my top 4 things to-do before moving into your new place checklist.
Clean and declutter
If you’re anything like me, you have a lot of stuff. Like a ton of stuff lol. You don’t want to go into your new space with a bunch of junk or things that no longer serve you. I encourage you to do a closet clean-out to get rid of all the clutter. Doing it before you move will ensure you don’t take any things unnecessary with you and save you time and space. Go through all your clothes, throw out old books, and trash any expired beauty products. Leave the junk so you can really step into a new stage of life.
Pinterest It Up
Pinterest is the place to be when you need inspiration. You can scroll on there for hours to get inspo for how you want your new place to look. Or you can even build out a mood board for the items that you want and a color scheme. Search keywords like “apartment decor” or “affordable apartment decor” to see all the possibilities. Special mention to TikTok for being a place you can draw inspiration.
Pre-Shop for furniture
I know some people may say wait to purchase things when you move in and don’t get things just yet. However, my sister and I did the exact opposite. I am big on my faith so purchasing items in advance was putting my faith at work that I was going to get the perfect place.
We slowly started purchasing things we wanted for our place as we were out shopping. We went to Tj Maxx, Marshall, and Homegoods often and found cute and essentials thing we would need. When it comes to big furniture items it is smart to start looking for those things now the way inventory is now. It’s taking months for people to get sofas, dining room tables, etc due to backorders. Once you get the theme for your place, just get things here and there to start building your apartment inventory.
Hire a moving company
If you don’t do anything on this list, do this one! Hire a moving company because nobody has time to be moving stuff on their own. Or relying on your little cousins or uncle to get stuff (safely) to your new place. A moving company makes life simple. You just have to worry about getting your things packed and they will handle the rest.
If you live in the Atlanta area then I know just the movers for you when you do your big move. Page Relocation is a reliable and family-owned company that will get you moved with care. If you hate packing like me they even offer a packing service. We love anything that provides us with convenience. From long-distance moving, storage services, and senior moving in Atlanta Page Relocation has got you covered. Bottom line hire a company you can rely on because moving is already stressful.
So there you have it, these are my top things you should do before moving into your new place! I wish you nothing but blessings and that you get your dream apartment. Having your own place is super exciting and you can create it to be your own little oasis. Prayers and blessings to anyone taking this leap soon.
