Mane Style: How long have you been natural?
Candace: I’ve been on this natural hair journey for a little over 10 years now, with a few minor setbacks for a major comeback! LOL
MS: What are your go-to hairstyles?
C: My go to hairstyles are “the puff”, a sleek top knot, or a sleek low bun.
MS: Do you have any holy-grail hair products?
C: Yes!! My staples are ecostyler gel with olive oil, coconut oil, and shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie.
MS: Describe your personal style?
C: My personal style is pretty simple and chic, which also includes a subtle chill vibe paired with a nice sneaker here and there with a bold lippie to top off my outfit.
MS: What clothing store(s) could we find you in, mostly?
C: You can find me falling into the GAP! LOL I love their clothes, along with Express, Banana Republic, and H&M.
MS: If you couldn’t live without one thing in your closet what would it be?
C: Ummm heels! I live for a sexy pair of heels.
MS: Does your outfit for the day reflect how you wear your hair? Or vice versa?
C: Yes, my outfit reflects how I wear my hair. When I’m feeling extra professional, a sleek low bun with a nude lip does the trick, or if I’m feeling tomboyish, I’ll rock a sleek top knot with a lippie that makes a statement like “wam bam hello Pam!” Lmbo! I’m a little silly at times.
MS: Just for fun, who are your top three #WCW or just women who inspire you?
C: My grandma, my mother, and my aunt all inspire me to be the best that I can be, so I crush on them not only on Wednesdays, but every day. They mean the world to me.
MS: What inspired you to start your YouTube channel Curlslikecandy?
C: I started my YouTube channel because I wanted to be the “normal” every day girl that inspires others to wear their natural hair and be able to feel just as beautiful while doing so. Nothing against any other Natural YouTubers because I love other naturals, but this was just my stance on how I wanted my channel to be perceived. No gimmicks, just a regular mom/wife who just happens to do YouTube video tutorials because it makes me happy. : )
MS: If you could share one piece of advice with readers, whether it be about style or hair, what would it be?
C: Be patient with your hair, natural hair grows. And don’t be afraid to live out loud and be YOU no matter what, and always go after the things you wish to obtain in life.
